Soundscape Ecological Research
Our research focusses on the use of sound to discover how nature works. We deploy passive acoustic recorders in a variety of experimental designs to address several critical questions related to how human activities affect biodiversity. Topics of research include how use of land affects biodiversity patterns, how landscapes recover from wildfire, how noise interferes with animal communication, and how invasive species and toxins impact vertebrate populations and animal activity patterns. Our work takes us to very special places, such as Borneo, Mongolia, Patagonia, and the Sonoran Desert.
